Oral Cancer Screening
It is essential to get regular cancer screenings completed by your dentist. During the exam, your dentist will search for signs of cancer or precancerous conditions that may exist in your mouth. The earlier your dentist is able to detect oral cancer, the better chance there is to recover from it. We make sure our exams are both thorough and gentle by using advanced Velscope oral cancer screening technology.
More and more dental care offices across the country are jumping on board the sedation dentistry bandwagon, and for good reason. Sedation dentistry allows the dentist to operate on the patient while they are under a sedative. This helps relax the patient and allows the dentist to operate quickly and efficiently. Here at Quality Dental Care in Omaha, NE we offer several different types of sedation. Our sedation options are oral sedation, sedative pill, or nitrous oxide. You should consult with your Quality Dental Care dentist to decide which type of sedation is best for your sedation dentistry needs. The best sedative for you will vary depending on the procedure and needs of the patient.
It is sad that despite the many advances in health care, many Americans still suffer from tooth loss. The effects of missing teeth are not only harmful to people’s self confidence, but the lack of function can also lead to health complications later in life. For years, the only way to replace a missing tooth was with dentures or by installing a bridge and a dental crown. While effective to a degree, dental implants are much more durable and can help prevent bone deterioration and other problems associated with tooth loss. We are proud to offer root form and mini dental implants to replace single or multiple missing teeth as well as implants that can help support your loose fitting dentures.
Traditional metal braces require extensive dental appointments and checkups to install and tighten the braces every few weeks. Tightening of metal braces can be painful to the patient, especially if they have sensitive teeth. Invisalign, on the other hand, does not need tightening. Instead, you visit your dentist every two weeks to receive the next size tray. You wear each tray for 22 hours a day for two weeks, then visit your Seward Smiles dentist to receive the next tray. Each tray slowly repositions the teeth for the next tray, allowing your teeth to straighten in a shorter period of time compared to metal braces.
Having your teeth cleaned at least twice a year will keep your teeth and gums healthy and looking great. We will remove the dental plaque and buildup, which contains harmful bacteria, from your teeth. Brushing and flossing at home definitely helps keep your teeth healthy, but only a dental professional can remove all of the bacteria from your teeth. If you or any of your family members may be nervous about visiting the dentist, don’t worry! At Seward Smiles we specialize in creating a safe, stress free environment that even the most nervous patients can enjoy.
When people’s teeth are stained or yellow due to aging or habits they often buy over the counter products to help whiten their smiles. Unfortunately, many of these patients do not get the results they desired and, in some cases, they even experience unwanted side effects from these do-it-yourself teeth whiteners. At Seward Smiles we can offer the best in professional whitening service and help you safely and effectively brighten your smile!
Traditional veneers require the removal of natural tooth. Before your dentist can place veneers, he or she will have to remove healthy tooth structure. Lumineers eliminate the need for shots, drilling, and natural tooth destruction. You can preserve 100% of your natural smile when you choose Lumineers. They are even thinner than traditional veneers. Lumineers are also reversible, so you don’t have to put your real smile at risk. Lumineers can even last for 20 years or longer, so you are guaranteed decades of a movie star smile with no pain and no sacrifice!
If your Seward Smiles dentist has informed you that one of your teeth is infected and root canal therapy is needed, a procedure date will be set and your dentist will consult with you about your options. Many people have heard horror stories about root canals being extremely painful. At Seward Smiles, our #1 goal is for the patient to have the best experience possible. The first thing we do is use extremely effective local anesthetic to completely numb the infected tooth and make sure the patient is comfortable. Next we drill through the top of the tooth and enter the canal area where we remove the nerve and infected tissue. Once the infection is removed, we fill and seal the canal and either place a filling, or often a crown, to cover the opening in the tooth and seal out harmful bacteria from your mouth.
Depending on the condition of your teeth, partial or full dentures may be needed. If many teeth are damaged beyond repair or are completely missing, the dentist may choose to extract the remaining teeth and prepare the mouth for full dentures. If only a few teeth are missing, dental implants and crowns may be placed or partials could be made. Dentures and partial dentures supported by implants are much more stable and allow for more function than traditional dentures.
